Calling All Artists and Crafters - Buy & Sell Crafts & Vintage Wears Online

 January 16th, 2013

Are you the crafty type?  Do you make unique creations for people and have funky, vintage items that people would love to get their hands on? Have your friends been telling you for years that you should go into business for yourself?

Sometimes we ladies fail to see the greatness in ourselves that others see.  We're quick to point out nice things about our friends and loved ones (think: your apple pie is better than any I've ever tasted), but we feel a little shy or undeserving when it comes time to take credit for the great creations we can make ourselves.  Does that sound familiar?

Selling Your Crafts Online
2 Maybe you enjoy making crafts in your spare time, or even as a side job, but you've never considered expanding your audience to include people outside of your circle of friends. Life is too short for you not to shine!  If you have an item you've created and it seems to be in demand among your friends and family members, why not share it with the world? Selling your crafts online is a great way to do more of what you love to do, and get some recognition for your hard work.  Not to mention, it's a great way for you to make some extra money, too.

What Are You Passionate About?
I've heard people say that life isn't worth living unless you're doing what you're passionate about.  When you use Londyn Kate's online sales boutique to sell your goods, you're bringing your passions to life.  Not only that, Londyn Kate gives you the opportunity to buy items online from others just like you.  Sometimes indulging in others' passions brings about more creativity in you too!

The great thing about this site is that it's created and devoted to women.  It was created for us because I saw the importance of women pitching in and helping other women be able to do what they love.  Inside of you there is an incredible artist just waiting to burst and share your artwork with the world.  You need a safe and happy place to do that.  Londyn Kate gives you the opportunity.

Why not take a moment right now to browse through the different handmade and refurbished vintage pieces we have available in our store?  You might be inspired!  You might be encouraged to share something you've created as well.  Sometimes in life, you simply have to take a chance.  You have to "put yourself out there" and see how people react.  More often than not, you'll be pleasantly surprised at the results.

Londyn Kate is eager to work with you to bring your crafts online and present them to the world.  We're all about women helping women.  Don't forget our motto: "Where there's a woman, there's a way!"

3 Tips for Successfully Selling Handmade Crafts with Londyn Kate

January 9th, 2013

I've made it my personal goal to help you be as successful as possible as you sell handmade crafts online with Londyn Kate. It's important to me to be sure you have all the tools you need to get as many sales as possible. I've compiled a small list of things you can do to boost your sales and get the results you're looking for.

Take Great Pictures
I'm sure you've heard the phrase "a picture is worth a thousand words." This is undoubtedly true when you're referring to selling your merchandise online. If you're an artist and you create a beautiful piece of art, but don't have a captivating picture to go along with it, the effect can be somewhat lackluster. I've seen some incredible pictures posted by many of you with adorable children laughing and smiling wearing handmade dresses, or pictures of puppies wearing handmade sweaters. These pictures create lasting images in the minds of potential customers. Your beautiful photos of your crafts will untitledbring you quicker sales.

Use Social Media
Social media offers you many opportunities to promote your merchandise, and they're free. While you don't want to spend too much time using social media (otherwise you'll never get anything else done!), using Facebook and Pinterest are great advertising tools. Pinterest was made to promote your crafts, and people who use that particular platform are looking for the exact things you have for sale. Facebook is a terrific option too, because your audience can be large and you can cast a wide net. With over one billion users, Facebook is a great place to promote your crafts.

Hand Out Business Cards
Remember, as you sell handmade crafts online, you essentially have your own store. This becomes your own personal brick-and-mortar. You can treat it like a business in many ways, including handing out business cards that promote your store and your crafts. It's always a good idea to stash some extra business cards in your purse so that you have them available when you're out and about. There are many different websites who can create beautiful business cards inexpensively. Or, if you're really crafty (and you have the time) you can make them yourself!

I am so excited about the incredible opportunities that lie ahead for you as you sell handmade crafts online. The fact that you have chosen to use your creativity to bring in an additional income for your home shows just how special and unique you are. It's a pleasure for me to partner with you in your success. I'm all about women supporting women in every venture and endeavor. I love watching your dreams come true.

If you're not selling your handmade crafts online yet, what's stopping you from taking that next step? Won't you join us? After all, I believe where there's a woman, there's a way!

A Fun and Easy Gift Suitable for a White Elephant Exchange or a Bridal Shower Party Favor.

December 18th, 2012

So I recently got invited to a small company Christmas party. I pulled up the Evite the day before just to double-check the time and suddenly saw that I need to bring a White Elephant gift. "OH MY GOODNESS, how did I miss that?"

To make it worse, the invite did not say whether or not the gift should be funny, witty, used or how much the value should be. I panicked for a second thinking, "How am I going to pull something together in a day especially with no gift guidelines?"

I started thinking and remembered a great bridal shower favor idea I saw at a friend’s house. It was a small decorated gift bag with a tag that said:

"Lots of hugs and kisses, xblog1
Care and nurturing,
Plus a little luck
Equals a marriage blessed with
Love and happiness"

The bag contained Hersey Hugs and Kisses, a bag of flower seeds and a lotto ticket. Who doesn’t like getting a lotto ticket? This was such a creative and easy idea, and I figured could put a Christmas twist on it. Next thing you know, I created a Christmas bag with tag on it that said:

"Wishing you a Christmasxblog2
Full of love, energy
And
Good fortune!"

xblog3Inside the bag I put a bag of Hersey Hugs for love, a Starbucks gift card for energy and lotto tickets for good fortune. This was easy and affordable! I picked everything up at my local grocery store. And it was a big hit at the party. Consider this idea when you are faced with getting a White Elephant gift or hosting a bridal shower!

Piece by Piece

October 29th, 2012

Launching Londyn Kate has been my dream for more than two years. Dealing with logos, trademarks, sales tax, and terms of use has provided me with the opportunity to learn and grow in ways I hadn’t even imagined. I have a bachelor's degree in Biology, and knowing the difference between mitosis and meiosis clearly wasn’t going to help me in establishing a business. I was starting at ground zero with no business experience or background. Thankfully, I had someone to whom I could turn -- my entrepreneur father. He continuously maintained the balance between pointing me in the right direction and making me figure it out for myself.

I thought I had to have it all planned out perfectly. But what I learned is that each piece of the puzzle fell into place exactly when it needed to. I realized that for my entire life, I had tried to fit the pieces together how I thought they should go, not necessarily how I wanted them to go. I played sports, graduated from high school and then from college. Then I started working my way up the corporate ladder. One day while sitting in my cubicle, I realized there were so many other things I would rather be doing. I want to enjoy life, help other people and be passionate about my career.

Because my passion is helping other women be successful at the things they love to do, the pieces began to fall into place for Londyn Kate. But the most important piece of Londyn Kate is the women I hope will visit and share on the site. Without women to buy and sell handmade items there is no Londyn Kate. As much as I’ve thought about this important piece of the puzzle (How will we get women to participate? Will they like the site? Will they tell their friends?), I remind myself that it will fall into place just like the others. I hope you will help complete this puzzle. I look forward to hearing from you!
